YEdit

Overview

YEdit is a Win32/Win64 recreation of the MS-DOS 5 editor. It can be copied as a single binary with no dependencies or installation.

Although minimalism is a goal, some of its capabilities include:

• Auto indent
• Support for arbitrary terminal sizes
• Support for different character encodings, including UTF-8 or ASCII
• Text selection via mouse or shift+navigate
• Windows Clipboard integration
• Mouse wheel scroll support
• Multi-level undo and redo
• Tab expansion of configurable width
• Search and replace
• Color or black and white display

It can run on very old systems, or those with limited capabilities, including WinPE, Server Core and Nano Server:

32 bit YEdit runs on Windows NT 3.1 or above (not Windows 95/98/Me.) 64 bit YEdit runs on Windows XP 64 bit edition and above.
